I love to do nightstands as you can make even the dreariest one look extra special with color and paint effects.

SILVER STREAK BEDROOM SET.
This set comprised of a  5 drawer Broyhill dresser . a large Broyhill linen armoire and a grey sofa style table.
The client liked the shapes of the pieces but just felt the colors were a little dated and gave her bedroom a heavy feel.

 Dresser got a coat of primer and then two coats of metallic silver. Client wanted a two tone effect so the framework was painted in a deeper silver called Thundercloud with the drawers being painted in Silver Streak. Then to achieve the antiqued effect a sepia glaze was brushed on and rubbed off, taking care to allow it to settle in the detail of the piece to give it more depth and age.

 

 

Armoire being given a coat of primer after removing doors and hard wear. The bottom doors will be put back on but client wanted the top to be open shelving. 

AFTER

 

Sometimes I get carried away and forget to take the before pictures!!!  That is what happened here ! I was so eager to start this project and now find that I only have the after visual.

This piece was also given a coat of gray primer and then 2 coats of the metallic Silver Streak. The sepia glaze was then applied to complete the effect

 

 

Goodbye Gun Cabinet!

Transformation of a Gun Cabinet.

Anyone that really knows me will know of my absolute hate of guns and anything associated. So, transforming this gun cabinet into a pretty china hutch is a natural for me.
Follow its rebirth over the next few weeks .........


One week later and this is what the ex - gun cabinet now looks like!

Dismantled, primed, painted and new shelves.

Why is it that I have a difficult time letting go of some pieces and find myself , in my mind , rearranging to see if I could possibly fit just one more piece of furniture into my already stuffed full home :(

Finally completed transformation!

This piece was given one coat of primer and two coats of chalk paint . The antique effect was achieved by brushing on a coat of sepia glaze and then wiping off with a damp cloth .

I just loved this piece but had no where to house it so it just had to go.
